Key financial information for the other activities segment may be summarised as follows:
This segment largely comprises the following activities:
- Management of international investments, support for the study of new projects overseas and raising finance on the international markets through Falck Energy Sa, Falck Financial Services Sa, Sustainable Energy Solutions Ltd and Falck Energy Iran Sa;
- Factoring activities both for group companies and a limited number of third parties through Riesfactoring SpA;
- Activities linked to the provision of a number of services through Sesto Siderservizi Srl.
This segment recorded a loss of Euro 3,610 thousand compared to the profit of Euro 4,951 thousand in 2007.
The result benefited from the dividends of Euro 3,260 thousand received from Unicredito Italiano SpA while it was heavily penalised by the write-downs of Euro 5,115 thousand and Euro 1,723 thousand on financial receivables carried out by Riesfactoring SpA and Falck Energy Sa respectively, which were required as a result of the counterparties being in financial difficulty.
The net financial position, a net indebtedness of Euro 1,873 thousand, decreased by Euro 1,038 thousand compared to 2007. Falck Energy Sa recorded Euro 12,603 thousand in liabilities in respect of amounts owed to the employees of the Falck Renewables group. This liability relates to the share repurchase scheme awarded to these employees following the share capital increase reserved to them.
